Funeral services for Oscar W. Black, well-known rancher and descendant of original settlers of this area were held in Cloverdale on Saturday, Jan 17.  Mr. Black died of a heart attack on Jan 14 in Santa Rosa General Hospital at the age of 66 years. His death came as an unexpected shock to his family and friends. He had undergone an operation on Jan 12 but seemed to be making a satisfactory recovery until his sudden and fatal seizure. He was  born Feb 21, 1892 in Cloverdale and had lived on ranches in this area almost all of his life. For several years before his death he and his wife had resided in the Black homestead at 130 Commercial Street, Cloverdale.  The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. at the Cloverdale Chape of Fred Young & Co, Rev. Louis E. White, pastor
